My Story
How you doing? Great to meet you.
I’m Kyle Boyd, a designer from Ulster in the perfectly formed province of Northern Ireland. I have been making the Internet as designer for over 18 years and earning a PhD in Computer Science focusing on the Usability of Social Media for older people and their carers.

The day job consists of Lecturing in Interaction Design on the BDes Interaction Design undergraduate course at the Belfast School of Art in Ulster University. I am also an active researcher and currently my work is focusing on UX, Usability and Health Informatics. You can read my publications here if you like. I also supervise a number of PhD candidates.
I have Cerebral Palsy which gives my life some unique challenges, but as a problem solver I have managed to achieve many things. I am not disabled I am just differently abled.
Away from University life I enjoy watching movies, eating food, cars and travelling but most of all spending time with my wonderful wife Emma and our sons Ezra and Austin.
